Reveal
I sometimes like surprises. I do like surprises that are good, positive and simple. I don’t like bad news and complicated surprises. I get surprised all the time and I’ve learned that there is so many things that I simply have no control over. I can control my response to a surprise, but by the very definition of the word, I’m not in charge of that one. The dictionary defines surprise as “an unexpected or astonishing event or fact”.
King Balak of Moab brought in Balaam (Donkey man) to curse Israel because He was fearful of them. The king had obviously seen Balaam doing sorcery and divination before so he asked him to curser Israel. Check this out…
3 Then Balaam said to Balak, ‘Stay here beside your offering while I go aside. Perhaps the Lord will come to meet with me. Whatever he reveals to me I will tell you.’ Then he went off to a barren height. (Numbers 23:3 NIV)
As I read on, Balaam indeed told him what the Lord told him to say to Balak. I was reminded that the Lord reveals Himself to me if I will look and listen for Him. As I spend time in His Word, He brings clarity to so many areas of my life. As I spend time with Him, He lets me see more of His heart and His response to many situations. Nothing I face surprises The Lord. He is always all knowing. He is always prepared for what happens next because He always knows what happens next. He is not surprised by my struggles or my sin. He is so very patient with me and I deal with surprises.
I want to say what He would have me say.
I want to do what He would have me do.
I want to be where He would have me be.
I want to listen, look and act upon what the Lord reveals to me.
Pressing On!
