Restoration & Re-Purposed

antique carI love old furniture that has been restored and re-purposed. I know people who take down old houses and repurpose the lumber into furniture. They have incredibly cool products for purchase that have been re-purposed. You can see their products here.

I also know a guy who has a furniture business based on re-purposing old pallet lumber into furniture. This guy actually hired homeless men to do the work – He was helping re-purpose their lives. You can see some of the furniture and read more of their story here.

There are times in my life that I’ve felt closer to the Lord than others. There are times when He feels far away and times when He feel incredibly close. The issue is me. I’m the one who moves. He is always consistent in character and He is incredibly patient while I figure things out about Him. I don’t like who I become when I’m away from Him. I can become incredibly selfish and stupid. I need Him to restore my heart. I read this Psalm of Asaph and realized that Restoring is His “strong suit”. Check this out…

17 Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand,

    the son of man you have raised up for yourself.
18 Then we will not turn away from you;

    revive us, and we will call on your name.
19 Restore us, Lord God Almighty;

    make your face shine on us,

    that we may be saved. (Psalm 80:17-19 NIV)

Just like an old piece of furniture gets restored for re-use – I need restored and re-purposed. I need the Creator to rebuild some things in me and clean off some of my imperfections and restore me. I’m not talking about physical restoration- I’m talking about heart restoration and re-purpose. He wired my heart to honor Him, it has become polluted by the culture and my turning away from Him.

I’m so thankful for His restoration and re-purposing of my soul.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
