Reputation
This is the belief or opinion that are generally held about something or someone. It doesn’t even have to be true, – it can simply be perception. I have always cared deeply about my reputation. I don’t always understand why some people form an opinion of me without ever talking to me or asking for clarification regarding a decision that I made. Every day that I live and serve, I’m building a reputation. I also believe that a reputation can be destroyed rather easily by a dumb decision or thoughtless action.
Jesus’ reputation was preceding Him. The powers that be (King Herod- the puppet king) knew of Him because of the healings and miracles that He had done. Check this out….
14 Herod Antipas, the king, soon heard about Jesus, because everyone was talking about him. Some were saying, “This must be John the Baptist raised from the dead. That is why he can do such miracles.” 15 Others said, “He’s the prophet Elijah.” Still others said, “He’s a prophet like the other great prophets of the past.” (Mark 6:14-15 NLT)
I understand that people can think whatever they want about me.
I understand that people who know me, hold me accountable for my actions and choices.
I want to have a reputation of a faithful follower of Jesus. I want my reputation to be more about serving others than serving myself. I want to have a reputation of generosity. I want to have a reputation of honesty and integrity. I want to have a reputation of kindness. I want to have a reputation of profound love and respect of others.
If you ever wonder why I do the things I do, you’re welcome to ask me. I answer to the Lord for everything I do. I want my obedience and my faithfulness to Him to complete my reputation.
Pressing On!
