Reminder
I can set a reminder on my phone to bring my attention to something that I want to remember to do. For example, I have a reminder on my phone that goes off each day reminding me to pray after lunch. I give the Lord thanks for my food and His provision at lunch, but I will often jump back into my busy afternoon and forget to pray. There are other times when my wife reminds me of something that needs to be done and I know it, but it slipped off my radar.
The older I get; the more important little reminders are. Another tool I use is the calendar. If I write something on my calendar, it reminds me of something I had planned or a meeting with someone that was planned.
Paul gave a reminder to the church at Rome about his calling and his mission to the non-Jews. He was teaching them about Jesus. Check this out…
15 Even so, I have been bold enough to write about some of these points, knowing that all you need is this reminder. For by God’s grace, 16 I am a special messenger from Christ Jesus to you Gentiles. I bring you the Good News so that I might present you as an acceptable offering to God, made holy by the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:15-16 NLT)
I needed to be reminded of four words… “For by God’s grace…”
My life would be lost without God’s grace.
As we’ve been helping my son work on his home, I love listening to music. I was introduced to an artist that I hadn’t listened to before and came across a song about grace. It was a good reminder to me.
“By Your Grace” by Cody Johnson
I’m aware of everything that’s wrong with me
But still You accept me anyway
I live with a past I can’t get past and it still haunts me
So I’m askin’ for the courage to make a change
Chorus: By Your grace, I have hope
You’ve already paid every debt I owe
Please take my chains and make me see
That by Your grace, I’ve been set free
Teach me, Lord, to seek You day by day
Let only You define just where I stand
Let me not take for granted
All the dеpths of Your forgiveness
Becausе the only way I’m gonna be a better man
I’ve got a long way to go
Oh, but Lord, I know
There’s not a step I’m gonna take
When You’re not with me
You’re always with me
Pressing On!
