Remind Me
The older I get the more forgetful I become – or so it seems. I have found that it’s important to write things down in my calendar so that I can be reminded of a commitment that I made. I can usually remember if it’s only a day or so before, but I get frustrated with my forgetfulness for sure. There is an app for that called “Remind Me”and I think it’s used by teachers and school administrators to communicate with parents and students.
King David was asking the Lord for a reminder because it’s easy to lose perspective on this life and the Power and Presence of the Lord. Check this out….
4 “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—
how fleeting my life is.
5 You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand.
My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;
at best, each of us is but a breath.”
6 We are merely moving shadows,
and all our busy rushing ends in nothing.
We heap up wealth,
not knowing who will spend it.
7 And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you.(Psalm 39:4-7 NLT)
I need to be reminded of the faithfulness of the Lord.
I need to be reminded of His great grace.
I need to be reminded of His deep love.
I need to be reminded of His Patience.
I need to be reminded of His forgiveness.
I need to be reminded of the purpose of my life.
I don’t know how long I will live on this earth before entering heaven, but I want to make my days count instead of just count my days. I want to use my time today and every day wisely, keeping an eye on the goal of my life – heaven. Our topic of conversation at sales meeting yesterday was Time. I was reminded that time is a valuable commodity that we spend somewhat frivolously at times. One of my agents reminded me of deathclock.com. It’s a bit morbid to think about but sobering just the same. I was put here on earth to bring glory to the Lord. I must remember to make my days count instead of just count my days. I’m thankful for the reminder.
Pressing On!
