Reflective Perspective
There are so many times when I’m going through life at a fast pace that I don’t stop and reflect on where I’ve been or where I’ve come from. I can track my progress and see it on a chart. I think it’s important to reflect a bit more than that.
When I take the time to reflect, I can see the gentle hand of God directing my path and walking with me in the best of times AND the worst of times. If I will take the time to reflect a bit on my journey, my perspective is shaped by the journey.
As I’m reading through the book of Job, I can’t help but notice is struggle with perspective. His physical discomfort as well as his emotional struggle in wrecking him. I think his conversations are very honest, even though they seem harsh. He does do some reflecting as he complains to God. Check this out….
9 Remember that you made me from dust—
will you turn me back to dust so soon?
10 You guided my conception
and formed me in the womb.
11 You clothed me with skin and flesh,
and you knit my bones and sinews together.
12 You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love.
My life was preserved by your care. (Job 10:9-12 NLT)
I must be careful not to compare my life with others. I think it’s ok to compare this year with last year or years past. I should compare me to me. Things go sideways and are skewed greatly when I fall into the comparison trap.
One of the things I try to do each morning is reflect on the goodness of God. He is ALWAYS with me. He is ALWAYS for me. I am so blessed and grateful. When I take the time to reflect on my journey with the Lord, it takes the weight off of where I’m at today on that journey. Taking the time to be reflective always changes my perspective.
Pressing On!
