Reflection
I look at myself in the mirror in the morning and I can’t help but chuckle. My hair is a mess, and my eyes have a hard time adjusting to the light. The mirror is how I see myself. I obviously do some work on my appearance before heading to the office. After seeing how I look, I’m glad that others take time to improve their appearance before going out in public! I used to chuckle at people working remote, because they could be wearing pajamas as pants, while they dressed up the part people could see while video conferencing.
Paul in his second letter the to the church at Corinth, reminds them of how things used to be compared to how it is now. When Moses was with God, his face shone so bright, that he had to wear a veil to cover his face. Paul is using that same imagery to explain how we are to operate now that we know Jesus. Check this out….
16 But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. (2 Corinthians 3:16-18 NLT)
I want the mirror in my bathroom to also function like the Word of God. I want to look at my reflection as a Christ follower. I want to make the necessary adjustments so that my life reflects His Presence in me. I want others to see that I’m real and that I’m simply trying to reflect the Lord living inside of me. I’m not better than anyone else. I’m not smarter than anyone else. I’m not more spiritual than anyone else. I’m simply a man trying to live out my faith in God. I’m saved by the Grace that God gives me through Jesus. I want to see and reflect the Glory of God today and every day!
Pressing On!
