Reciprocal Encouragement
I really appreciate encouragement. I try hard to not be dismissive when someone is encouraging me. I also try to be an encourager of others.
Encouragement can speak life into another.
Encouragement can inspire another.
Encouragement can motivate another.
Encouragement is a gift that I can give freely with an unending supply chain.
Paul writes a letter to the church in Rome and one of his major goals of the letter is encouragement. I think encouragement is personal and Paul does as well. Check this out…
10 One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you. 11 For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. 12 When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. (Romans 1:10-12 NLT)
I think there are few rules about encouragement.
- It should be genuine. (Don’t lie or be dishonest.)
- It should be timely. (Don’t delay – speak it out!)
- It should be specific. (Don’t just say “good job”, say what was good about it!)
- It should be often. (Look for opportunities every hour of every day.)
- It will bless you to be a blessing to others. (Don’t do it just to get it, but I promise you’ll be blessed when you bless others with encouragement.)
Any encouragement that I’m able to give comes from a foundation of faith in Jesus Christ. I believe that He is our ONLY HOPE for eternal life. My journey with Him compels me to encourage others in their faith. I want others to know the life that can be found in Jesus. It abundant and fulfilling now with the promise of life after death.
I hope that you will become an encourager today!
Pressing On!
