Purpose
I have been following Jesus for several years. I am still growing in my faith as I study the Word of God to know Him more. I love the Gospel of John as this is Jesus’ friend writing about the events that happened while Jesus walked the earth. I love the simplicity of John’s writing because he loved his friend Jesus.
Jesus is teaching the people after He had just healed a blind man. The local religious leaders were not accepting Jesus as the Son of God. He used an illustration of a shepherd and his sheep to explain His relationship with all who believe in Him and follow Him. He ended up explaining it further. Check this out….
6 Those who heard Jesus use this illustration didn’t understand what he meant, 7 so he explained it to them: “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. 9 Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. 10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. (John 10:6-10 NLT)
Jesus makes it clear that He is the Way we connect with God. He also makes it clear that we will be saved through Him. He not only saves us, but He leads us to better sources of provision. He states His purpose which blessed me. “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life”. I love this because as I walk with Him, I learn what in life is most important and what is trivial or less important.
I want to live my life on purpose for the Lord.
I want to love others on purpose for the Lord.
I want to hear His Voice as He gives direction to my day today and my life going forward.
I want to feel His Presence near me as I navigate unchartered parts of life.
I want to follow Him all the days of my life and experience His Presence and His Peace.
Pressing On!
