Protective Presence
I’m thankful for all the protective equipment that has been invented or built for our law enforcement and our fire fighters. These men and women put their own lives at risk for people they don’t even know. I thankful when I hear stories of how their protective equipment like a bullet-proof vest of the fire-retardant equipment saved or protected our civil servants. I also know that our military men and women have lots of protective equipment as well. I see protective equipment as more defensive than offensive.
I do have protective clothing to protect me from the weather which is less likely to be life-threatening as a bad guy trying to kill or a raging fire. It’s important to pay close attention to protection.
As I was reading through Psalm 3, a dark season in David’s life, He noticed the Lord’s protection over him. Check this out….
3 But you, O Lord, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.
4 I cried out to the Lord,
and he answered me from his holy mountain.
5 I lay down and slept,
yet I woke up in safety,
for the Lord was watching over me.
6 I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies
who surround me on every side. (Psalm 3:3-6 NLT)
I am so grateful for the Lord’s Presence in my life. I feel like I have help. I feel like I have great counsel. I feel like He walks with me through whatever I’m facing. He lifts my head when it feels pushed down by the weight of events around me or a load of responsibilities.
The Lord’s Presence allows me to rest from the journey.
The Lord’s Presence protects me on the journey.
The Lord’s Presence pushes fear out the door.
I’m humbled and grateful for the Lord’s Presence in my life. He is not only my Protector, but also my Provider. His Presence in me shapes everything I do and everything I am.
Pressing On!
