Presence
There are lots of people whom I consider good, godly friends. I enjoy being in their presence and simply chatting about life. I have the privilege of serving in the Kingdom of God with people like this. I also enjoy the presence of the people I work with. I profoundly enjoy being in the presence of family. When I’m in the presence of people who bring value to my life and hopefully, I bring value to theirs, it is important to be fully present with them.
As I was reading part of the story of Abraham, I found him concerned about his nephew Lot. He had pleaded with God to allow Lot and his family to escape Sodom and Gomorrah before they were destroyed. God granted Abraham’s request. Check this out…
27 Abraham got up early that morning and hurried out to the place where he had stood in the Lord’s presence. 28 He looked out across the plain toward Sodom and Gomorrah and watched as columns of smoke rose from the cities like smoke from a furnace.
29 But God had listened to Abraham’s request and kept Lot safe, removing him from the disaster that engulfed the cities on the plain. (Genesis 19:27-29 NLT)
Abraham knew where the place of God’s Presence was.
God heard Abraham’s request while Abraham was in His Presence.
The Holy Spirit brings the very Presence of God to my heart.
I want to be in the Presence of God each day as I live and work.
The Presence of God gives me peace.
The Presence of God gives me direction.
The Presence of God gives me hope.
The Presence of God in me changes my perspective on everything else in my life. I’m thankful that He chose to live in me and live through me.
Pressing On!
