Prayer Power

Elderly man prayingI am a believer in prayer. I see prayer as this often, confidential conversation between God and me. He wants to know everything about me. The crazy thing is He already knows all about me and what is going on with me, but it really clarifies things for me when I talk about those things to Him. He provides wisdom and insight to me when I pray and seek Him. 

I believe that prayer is calling on Heaven’s resources to help me here on earth. I also believe that in prayer, God speaks to me. It’s not just me and my “wish list”, it is God revealing Himself to me. That part of prayer is really big to me.

Paul prays this powerful prayer over the church at Ephesus and it blessed me. I’m praying it over my family, my business and me. Check this out….

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:16-21 NIV)

 

I love this prayer from Paul. It contains some powerful concepts that are often overlooked in prayer. He’s praying for God’s strength. He praying for God’s Presence. He’s praying for God’s power. He’s praying for the church’s understanding of God to be widened and deepened. He’s praying for God’s glory to be all over them! This passage really draws me back to disciplined, daily prayer with the Lord.

Prayer calls on God’s Power and His Presence.

Prayer changes my perspective.

Prayer changes me!
