Prayer
I have been praying to the Lord for a long time. My prayer life has become deeper and a bit more intense as I’ve grown in my faith. I used to pray memorized prayers, but now my prayers are much more conversational and deeply personal. The Lord knows everything about me, and my prayers are merely me acknowledging that He knows everything and He’s in charge of everything.
David pens some of the most incredible prayers in Psalms. I will often pray his prayers verbatim. He certainly helps me position my heart to talk to the Lord. Check this out….
5 My steps have stayed on your path;
I have not wavered from following you.
6 I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God.
Bend down and listen as I pray.
7 Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways.
By your mighty power you rescue
those who seek refuge from their enemies.
8 Guard me as you would guard your own eyes.
Hide me in the shadow of your wings. (Psalm 17:5-8 NLT)
Between Friday of Jesus’ death and the Sunday that He rose from the dead, I expect that the disciples and followers of Jesus were praying intensely.
I have lots to pray about all the time. I have a lot of people to talk to the Lord on their behalf. The closer they are to my heart, the more often I talk to the Lord about them.
I’m also surrendering my heart to the Lord each time I pray. I loved this one verse in this same Psalm. Check this out….
3 You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night.
You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong.
I am determined not to sin in what I say. (Psalm 17:3 NLT)
I want complete honesty and transparence with the Lord. He knows everything anyway.
I want the Lord to listen and act on my behalf.
I want my heart posture to be respectful and trusting that He is the Lord, and He knows what is best. His will. His way. I will keep praying. I will keep trusting. I will keep surrendering.
Pressing On!
