Power To Destroy
As I read the Old Testament I’m amazed at how God created the world, but also how engaged and involved in creation He was. He had His people that He lead, He protected, He provided and He punished. The Lord built the earth and is still in charge of it. Isaiah reminded me of this fact this morning. Check this out….
4 All the stars in the sky will be dissolved and the heavens rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig-tree. 8 For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a year of retribution, to uphold Zion’s cause (Isaiah 34:4,8 NIV)
I don’t always understand the ways of the Lord – but I trust Him. I believe He holds the power to deliver or destroy anyone or anything. He is All-Powerful. The thing I love about the Lord though is that He has all power, yet He chooses to love. He restrains His Power against even me. He loves me deeply and hates my sin deeply. He offers Grace & Mercy in lieu of punishment. As I read the Old Testament in light of the New Testament, I see the hand of God moving in the lives of all people. Through His One and Only Son, He made a way for me to part of His family. I now have His Provision and His Protection and access to His Power to lead me and save me. I’m grateful for His Power and Presence.
