Pour It Out!
I love having a fire in the back yard at the end of the day – to relax and reflect on the day’s happenings. I’m really glad that my wife and two youngest sons enjoy it too. We will on occasion sit out by the fire for a couple of hours watching the flames lick the wood and consume it. I always have a bucket of water nearby as a precaution. If the fire were to get outside the pit, I could easily put it out. On “school nights” we are on a time crunch, so the water helps us safely end the evening by putting the fire out. I usually have both the boys volunteering, so they take turns. This passage in Isaiah this morning reminded me of the pouring water out. Check this out…..
“People of Jacob, my servants, don’t be afraid. Israel, I chose you. 3 I will pour out water for the thirsty land and make streams flow on dry land. I will pour out my Spirit into your children and my blessing on your descendants. 4 Your children will grow like a tree in the grass, like poplar trees growing beside streams of water. 21 “People of Jacob, remember these things! People of Israel, remember you are my servants. I made you, and you are my servants. So Israel, I will not forget you. 22 I have swept away your sins like a big cloud; I have removed your sins like a cloud that disappears into the air. Come back to me because I saved you. (Isaiah 44:2b-4; 21-22 NCV)It’s crazy to think that the pouring that God does is more like pouring fuel on the fire to enhance the flame instead of extinguish it. God so wants His Holy Spirit to be obvious and evident in our lives. He pours it out all on us and makes us “dripping wet” with His Spirit! I want my whole family to be “dripping wet” with the Holy Spirit all over their lives. I want to live today with His Presence and His Power all over me too!
Pressing On! Dwayne
