Please Help
I’ve learned the “magic word” called please. The “magic word” is what we teach our kids which is a form of respect when asking someone to do something for you. I’ve also learned the value of saying “thank you” when someone does something for me. “Please” and “thank you” seemed to have gone “out of style” for our current culture. I wish they would make a come-back. When we show respect for others, we are keeping our own pride and ego in check.
King David was crying out for help before the Lord and he uses the word “Please” and I think it is highly appropriate. Check this out…
11 Oh, please help us against our enemies,
for all human help is useless.
12 With God’s help we will do mighty things,
for he will trample down our foes. (Psalm 60:11-12 NLT)
When I ask the Lord anything, I believe I should use the word please. The Lord is All Powerful and Mighty to Save. How could I make demands of Him? I sometimes can only find the word “help” in my prayer. I do believe that the Lord hears my one-word prayer of help. I believe he can see “please” in my heart, even if it isn’t on my lips. I think it’s a mistake to assume others know that I mean “please” when I don’t bother to say it.
The Lord is all powerful. His help trumps human help every time. The very least I can do is show respect to Him in my prayers. He loves honesty above acting. He wants my heart before anything else. I can do all these things for the Lord, but He’d rather me simply “be” before Him. He will also help me become who He’s calling me to be. He loves it when I ask for His help in this journey.
Pressing On!
