Perspective of a Prayer

I grew up learning to say my prayers at bedtime and at meal time. I had these little rehearsed prayers that I recited at the appropriate times. When I grew up and begin to “grow out” of those rehearsed prayers, I began to realize the place that prayer had in my life. I wasn’t just saying words to a mythical person – I was talking to the God of the universe. He hears me. He listens to me. My prayer life evolved into talking to Him about all sorts of topics and people in my life. My grandmother was a prayer warrior and she covered her kids and grandkids with prayer. As a Dad, I began to realize the power of praying over my children and I haven’t stopped.

I came across a Psalm written by Moses. It was more of a prayer, but it reminded me of my perspective of prayer. Check this out….

Lord, through all the generations
    you have been our home!
Before the mountains were born,
before you gave birth to the earth and the world,
from beginning to end, you are God.

For you, a thousand years are as a passing day,
as brief as a few night hours.

12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.

14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love,
so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.

17 And may the Lord our God show us his approval
    and make our efforts successful.
Yes, make our efforts successful! (Psalm 90:1-2,4,12,14,17 NLT)

My life was created to bring honor and glory to my Creator. It is vital that I keep that perspective with my journey. It can’t be about me or I will become as self-centered, ego maniac. The Lord wants to use me to expand His influence in our world. He wants me to keep the proper perspective on my life. He wants me to keep proper perspective on His Presence and His Power in my world. My understanding of Who God is and how Powerful He is changes my perspective on everything and everyone. This world is my home for now. I have work to do on His behalf. My eye is on eternal life that He promised. I can feel His Presence. I have seen His Power at work. I will continue to pray about everything and try to worry about nothing. I can’t imagine my life without Him.

Pressing On!
