Past

I believe everyone has things in their past that they are not proud of. I’m no exception to that. I’ve said things and I’ve done things I’m embarrassed about now. At the time I may have felt justified for doing or saying those. No I’m not going to give examples, because one of the things I love about the past is that it is gone – over. There are times that the consequences of the my past rear their head and scream for attention. I’m sure grateful that the Lord has forgiven my past but used it to propel me forward into a very bright and hope-filled future where He leads and directs my path. Check this out…

I heard recently about a guy who’s been married over 25 years and has grown kids. He was contacted on Facebook by an old “high-school flame” and asked if he remembered her. He said “well it’s been over 30 years ago, but yes I remember you”. She then proceeded to introduce him to his 30-year son that he didn’t even know of.

Let me say it again: I believe everyone has regrets from their past. I was reminded of a quip that says: “Don’t judge me by my past because I don’t live there anymore”. This blog I’m writing right now is about to be in the past too.  Yesterday is gone, the memories are still there, but I can’t change anything that happened there. I’m so grateful the Lord helps me to overcome any pain in my past and keep me free from the stain and the pain of my past mistakes. I can only live and work with today. I’m not even promised I’ll have tomorrow.
