Painful Prayers
I’ve had my share of celebration prayer – where I’m filled with joy and excitement over something that the Lord has done in or around me. I’ve also had my times of painful prayers –where I’m so weak and exhausted from crying out to God that I just fall at His feet.
King David articulated some amazing prayers in the book of Psalms. He was very open and transparent in his writings. Check this out…
6 I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. 7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes. 8 Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping. 9 The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer. 10 All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame. (Psalm 6:6-10 NIV)
I’m learning to cry out to God no matter what my situation or state of mind. I’m growing in my trust of Him and His will for me. He really has my best in store. He celebrates with me and He cries with me. He is my Constant Companion upon invitation. He’s my Father in Heaven. He loves me more than I could ever love my kids and that is a big statement knowing how much I love my children.
As I walk out my faith in the Lord, He continues to teach me more of His heart for lost people. Some people are lost in joy and some are lost in the middle of pain. It’s sometimes easier to find the Lord in the midst of pain because there are not a lot of options of understanding of His level. The Presence of God in Pain or at the Party blows me away!
