Ownership
I learned a long time ago to hold on to things I own very loosely. I learned many years ago that God is the Owner of everything and I’m just a manager of the things He’s entrusted me with. That perspective is helpful as I navigate through life. While I may own a house and some vehicles – God really owns it all. I’m in charge of the things He’s blessed me with, but He owns, and I simply manage.
I’m working through Ezekiel this morning and I came across some instructions to Ezekiel from the Lord. He was challenged to eat the scroll before sharing it with others. He was given a bit more instruction about sharing the message. Check this out….
10 Then he added, “Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. 11 Then go to your people in exile and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’ Do this whether they listen to you or not.” (Ezekiel 3:10-11 NLT)
I read the Word of God for myself. I want to own the message of His Word before sharing it with others. I remember as a young pastor, one of my college professors told me when the Word of God speaks to me powerfully, I will be more passionate and speak out with a more powerful message.
I think that this “ownership” concept applies to most any message. If I understand and embrace the message, I can articulate and share it more clearly with others.
I want to “own” the Gospel and how it has transformed my life. The lens through which I view all of life comes through my ownership of the Gospel. I want every perspective to pass through the lens of the Word of God. If I “own” the Word of God, I am prepared for whatever the enemy throws at me.
Pressing On!
