Open My Eyes
When I wake up in the morning, my eyes don’t always want to open. They’ve been shut for a few hours resting along with the rest of my body. Even now as I write, my eyes are still tired and could probably close quickly if I let them. I’ve got the coffee on in order to completely wake up and get my day started with the Lord. I’ve heard it said that “that the eyes are the window to the soul”. If that is true, then I need to be aware of what soul sees via my eyes.
Paul really gives thanks for the Ephesian believers and blesses them through a prayer spirit in his writing. Check this out….
15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. (Ephesians 1:15-19b NIV)
Paul’s prayer here is very encouraging and enlightening. He’s giving thanks for the people of this church, but he’s also asking for God to help them grow in their faith. He’s praying for open hearts and open minds that they may clearly see the hope they have in Jesus as well as the great Power of God.
I need the eyes of my heart open to see the great love of God. I need to see His heart. I need to see His wisdom and His revelation. I need to see the hope to which He keeps pouring into me. I need to see His inheritance that He’s called me to. I need to see His Power displayed in my life as well.
My spiritual eyesight can be 20/20 when I dig deep in His Word for understanding and information about God. He reveals more of Himself in His Word and the more I know of Him, the more I love Him and want to honor Him with my life here on earth.
I want the eyes of my heart to be open today and have a clear understanding of Who He is and What He’s calling me to do!
