Only One
When there is only one, they become a rarity. If there is only one house on the market in the neighborhood, then it’s usually a bit more valuable than it would be if there was competition. I sometimes take things for granted that I have only one of. Scarcity is another term that could come on the scene with only one. I have only one life and the Lord made only one me. This passage in Song of Solomon also reminded me of the rarity of what I have in my wife. Check this out…
9 but my dove, my perfect one, is unique, the only daughter of her mother, the favorite of the one who bore her. The young women saw her and called her blessed; the queens and concubines praised her. (Song of Solomon 6:9 NIV)
I have a beautiful and wonderful wife and she is the only daughter of her Mom & Dad. Even if she had a sister, she would be the only one of her just like I’m the only one of me. I’m reminded that the Lord made us all uniquely us and we should find a comfort and blessing in that. I am actually a rare find. There is only one me. (Some would be grateful that there is only one of me!) I need to live out my life with confidence that I’m special and loved because there’s only one of me. Others may be like me and even look like me, but there is only one me. I want to honor the One Who made me like only I can.
