News Travels
I remember the morning of September 11, 2001, like it was yesterday. I was in the church office working and someone called to tell us about the first plane hitting one of the towers in New York. We immediately got to a television to hear about it and then the second plane hit. The news of that tragic event travelled very fast because of its magnitude.
If 9-11 happened today, it would likely be on Facebook Live from many users on site. Someone once said that “a lie can make around the world and back before the truth gets it’s shoes on”. The rise of social media has made new travel faster than ever before.
In Jesus’ day, the news of His miracles and healings was traveling at record pace throughout the entire region. He was having to take measures to manage the crowds. Check this out…
7 Jesus went out to the lake with his disciples, and a large crowd followed him. They came from all over Galilee, Judea, 8 Jerusalem, Idumea, from east of the Jordan River, and even from as far north as Tyre and Sidon. The news about his miracles had spread far and wide, and vast numbers of people came to see him.
9 Jesus instructed his disciples to have a boat ready so the crowd would not crush him. 10 He had healed many people that day, so all the sick people eagerly pushed forward to touch him. (Mark 3:7-10 NLT)
I wish that the good news of Jesus still traveled rampantly around the earth. He is still Present. He is still changing lives. He is still healing. He is still saving people. I think spending time in His Word connects me closer to the Good News that He introduced to the world. He is still changing me. He is still directing my actions. I want everyone to know what I know, but it seems our world is so noisy that the Good News of the Gospel can’t get through the noise.
I want to keep showing the change of Jesus in my life.
I want to keep sharing the effect of Jesus in my life.
I want to keep encouraging others to take a close look at Him.
I believe in God.
I believe WE ALL NEED Jesus.
This GOOD NEWS is worth sharing, showing, and demonstrating throughout my everyday life. I want my life to be a banner for all that Jesus has done and is doing in me. I want the GOOD NEWS of Jesus to travel all over the world!
Pressing On!
