New Morning
There has never been another morning just like this one. I’m older than I was yesterday morning and the world is a bit different. I do love the morning time though as the new day gets underway. I know that the day technically began at midnight, but for me the morning begins just before sunrise or whatever time I awake to begin a new day. I have made it a part of my schedule the last several years to wake up a little earlier to spend time with the Lord in His Word and in prayer. My day seems to have much more balance, calm and structure when I start with spending time with the Lord in His Word.
I was reminded again this morning that today is a new day. Check this out…
1 Listen to my words, Lord,
consider my lament.
2 Hear my cry for help,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
3 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly. (Psalm 5:1-3 NIV)
I almost always have lots of things to talk to the Lord about. I first like to hear what He wants to say because He often calms my heart with His Word. He knows my stress level and He knows my schedule. He knows the people I will meet and speak to on the phone today. He knows the balance in my bank account and the miles on my car. He knows where I will be at 3 PM today whether I do or not. It’s important for me to surrender my day with all its worries and other variables to Him. I need to do this first thing each morning. My day just got calmer because it has now been turned over to Him.
Pressing On!
