Mystery Growth
I’m amazed and thankful to the people who farm the land and grow food. My father-in-law grows a big garden each year. I do pitch in and help when he needs my help. He grows corn, green beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, squash and more. It requires a lot of preparation and planning. He sometimes purchases the seeds from a local feed & seed. He also keeps seed from previous years. I can tell you that the food from his garden tastes better to me because of the labor of love that is invested. His job is to prepare the soil, plant the seed and the mystery is how the earth yields the growth. God created the earth to do what it does.
Jesus gives clues regarding God’s Economy, aka the Kingdom of Heaven. He gives insight to how God created growth. Check this out….
26 Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. 28 The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens. 29 And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come.” (Mark 4:26-29 NLT)
We are created to grow. When a baby is conceived, he/she starts growing immediately. When they are born, they adapt to the world outside the womb and start growing. There are occasions where a health issue prevents growth, but the doctors work to adjust so that healthy growth can continue. At some point physical growth peaks and we start declining. It’s about that same time that emotional growth and intellectual growth kick in. We get wiser and grow through experiences as well as continued education. I don’t think this type of growth is a mystery. This growth is directly impacted by the things I think about and pour into my mind. I want to grow in wisdom and understanding, therefore, I must be aware of what I take into my mind.
As I reflect on the growth God gives to gardens, I know that He wants my depth of understanding of Him to grow too. He wants to give me insight into His love and His grace. It is hard to understand the depth of love and grace that He pours out on me. I’m so thankful for His grace and love even if I can’t comprehend it. I still study His Word to grow in Him. I know that much of what I don’t understand about growth will one day be realized when Heaven becomes my permanent home.
Pressing On!
