My KING – Beyond Description

bookHow do you describe something that is beyond description?  I guess you would still try to describe it. I’ve tried to describe a personal experience that I’ve had with the Lord before and ran into some really tough roadblocks called words. When trying to describe the incredible majesty of God – the words just don’t exist to describe Him.  I read a chapter in Revelation and John was trying to describe what he saw – it was obviously impossible to describe – but there was no mistaking the Presence of God. 1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” 2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.
9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11 “You are worthy,
 our Lord and God,

    to receive glory
 and honor and power,

for you created all things,

    and by your will they were created

    and have their being.” (Revelation 4:1-2; 9-11 NIV)

 

I can only imagine based on this passage that what John saw, he didn’t quite know how to describe. He was blown away by what He saw. I imagine this to be an incredible “jaw-dropping” experience.  I see such an amazing display of honor and respect given to God by those in His Presence who know of His Power and His Creativity. Their worship and honor of Him was intense and purposeful.

I think I need to hold some of the words of the English language back to only describe the Indescribable God.  He is Awesome in Power. His Presence is undeniable. I don’t know where to begin. I found this sermon excerpt that is pretty powerful. Check this out….
