My King
I’ve grown up watching movies about Kings and Queens. There were some great kings over the years and lots of corrupt kings as well. There are some kings that rule with kindness, and some are ruthless. We have a democracy here in the United States and our leaders are elected. If they lead and legislate with cruelty or corruption, they can be removed by election.
Recently the monarchy in England changed as the Queen passed away. The world watched as she was mourned and honored. She was not ruling as in a traditional monarchy. Her influence over the years was felt in the country as she influenced the leaders both at home and across the world.
When the people approached Samuel and asked him for a king, he was hurt by it. His sons were not leading as he had led. The people wanted a king. Check this out…
4 Finally, all the elders of Israel met at Ramah to discuss the matter with Samuel. 5 “Look,” they told him, “you are now old, and your sons are not like you. Give us a king to judge us like all the other nations have.”
6 Samuel was displeased with their request and went to the Lord for guidance. 7 “Do everything they say to you,” the Lord replied, “for they are rejecting me, not you. They don’t want me to be their king any longer. (1 Samuel 8:4-7 NLT)
I follow the King of Kings. He is the One and Only Son of God. He is my King. He is profoundly personal, and full of love and kindness. He gives me His Presence. He gives me His Peace. He gives me His Wisdom. He gives me His Discernment.
I am obedient and follow the guidelines of our government because I feel that God oversees my world. I am respectful and kind to my leaders. I don’t always agree with their ideas and their followers.
I love this message by Pastor S. M. Lockridge titled: “That’s My King”
My King is Lord of my life.
My King is Lord of all.
My King is a Friend to all.
My King is full kindness and love.
My King is Jesus.
Pressing On!
