My Favorite Holiday Season
It’s hard to believe it’s November already. The end of the year is in sight. One of my favorite times of the year is the season of Thanksgiving. I love it when people express their thankful heart to the Lord and to one another. I believe the Lord is the Giver of all good things. He should be thanked profoundly and often. Following close on the heels of thanksgiving is Christmas and we celebrate the Ultimate Gift of Jesus. This morning I was reminded of how they offered thanks in the Old Testament. Check this out…
12 If you present your peace offering as an expression of thanksgiving, the usual animal sacrifice must be accompanied by various kinds of bread made without yeast—thin cakes mixed with olive oil, wafers spread with oil, and cakes made of choice flour mixed with olive oil. 13 This peace offering of thanksgiving must also be accompanied by loaves of bread made with yeast. 14 One of each kind of bread must be presented as a gift to the Lord. (Leviticus 7:12-14a NLT)
I love the fact that their peace offering had a thanksgiving element to it. I love that we have great food at thanksgiving. In the past few years, I’ve become more grateful because I realize I have much to be thankful for.
A thankful heart often shows a generous heart.
A thankful heart can soften a hard heart.
A thankful heart can often heal a broken heart.
A thankful heart can bring peace to a stressed-out heart.
A thankful heart reflects the Lord being at home inside.
I want to practice a thankful heart every season of the year. I do want to stop and take time to express my thankfulness to the Lord, my family and my friends. I am more connected to the Lord when I recognize that I have Him to thank for all the wonderful blessings of my good life.
Pressing On!
