Multiplication
There are four mathematical basic operations of arithmetic. There is addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. Multiplication in its simplest form is repeated addition of a number. I was not a huge math fan when I was in school. Math touches every person on the planet in some form. I’ve used math while in ministry. I’ve used math in business. I didn’t think much Jesus using math, but he clearly did. Jesus taught multiplication in unique ways. Check this out….
15 That evening the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.”
16 But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.”
17 “But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!” they answered.
18 “Bring them here,” he said. 19 Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. 20 They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers. 21 About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children! (Matthew 14:15-21 NLT)
I have no clue how Jesus’ multiplication practically worked, but He took lunch for one and multiplied it thousands of times over. I would have loved to have been present for this miracle.
I believe that Jesus is still using math today. He can multiply the efforts of one individual many times over. A pastor can reach hundreds of thousands preaching one message and it gets broadcast and watched repeatedly. Jesus can also use addition, division, and subtraction in His Kingdom.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I’ve been the recipient of some of Jesus’ math. He has multiplied my blessing. He has shown favor upon me, my family, and my business. He has divided my life into flesh and spirit. He has subtracted things of my flesh that harms my walk with Him. He has added many times over more blessing than I deserve.
I simply want to walk with the Lord today and trust His math. He has my life to do with as He pleases. I love it when He multiplies my efforts for His mission. I’m simply surrendered to His Will and His call upon my life.
Pressing On!
