Majesty
When I think of this word, I often think of how we title the royalty of kings and queens. We would say “your majesty” when calling on them or speaking to them. The definition speaks of “beauty, dignity or impressive stateliness”. Majesty to me also screams out a characteristic of God. He is the ultimate Majestic being. He is the Creator of all that I can see and all that I know. There is anything created that He didn’t have a hand it. He rules and reigns over the universe! He personifies the term Majestic. Check this out….
1 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. 2 Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? (Psalm 8:1-4 NIV)
The Power and Presence of God is most definitely part of how I would describe Him. His Name is Power and Majesty. He is to be honored and praised above anything and everything because He alone is the source of everything I know. Much of the good He made has been turned into something bad. The Lord created all good things and made them to bless us. When we use the things He made for good in a bad way, it does not change Who He is. My perspective of God changes when I disobey Him. He goes from being the Majestic King to a task master and disciplinarian.
I’m reminded of a song by one of my favorite British band “Delirious?” called “Majesty”
If I can grasp the majesty of God – my perspective is lined up. My behavior then should honor my Creator. I’m humbled that He is Who He is and He wants to know me more. I can’t help but bow down in His Presence.
Pressing On! Dwayne
