Listen

depression teen girlIn order to listen, I must tune in with my ears. Sometimes if there’s a lot of noise in the room it’s hard to listen. I’ve learned that listening to loud music in the 80’s has affected my hearing today. (duh) My Dad kept telling me that I was listening to music too loud. I wonder what these “iPod kids” will hear like when they turn 50. I have a feeling that people in the hearing aid business will do well. I try really hard to hear God speak in the midst of the noise of my life. I don’t always accomplish this goal. I do believe it’s important to have some quiet time so that He can speak into my life. Check this out….

16 Come and hear, all you who fear God;

    let me tell you what he has done for me.
17 I cried out to him with my mouth;

    his praise was on my tongue.
18 If I had cherished sin in my heart,

    the Lord would not have listened;
19 but God has surely listened

    and has heard my prayer.
20 Praise be to God,

    who has not rejected my prayer

    or withheld his love from me! (Psalm 66:16-20 NIV)

The sin in my life came to the forefront of my mind this morning. I am surrendering my heart daily to the Lord. I still do stupid things that hurt His heart. I still have uncovered areas that need to be exposed. I’m still working on letting Him have all of my heart. He’s proven to me that He loves me and wants the absolute best for me. I’m still a bit stubborn and hardheaded at times and go my own way. He is so very patient with me. He is so faithful to me even when I’m unfaithful to Him. I’m so thankful that the Lord is helping me to clean up my heart and make room for more of Him!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
