Legacy

legacy word in vintage wood typeI’ve always thought of legacy is something that comes after I’m gone from this life. It is also thought of what things I’d leave behind. I do want my children to know Jesus and follow Him with their lives. That would be a legacy to be extremely thankful for. The sons of Korah have written a beautiful wedding song and they speak of legacy. Check this out….

16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers;

    you will make them princes throughout the land.
17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations;

    therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever. (Psalm 45:16-17 NIV)

What will people say about me when I’m gone?

What will people think about how I lived my life?

How will my family live on after I’m gone?

How will my children live out the faith in God that I’ve planted in their heart?

I want to leave a legacy of faith. I want my children to be lovers of God. I want them to be generous in giving. I want them to be compassionate. I want them to be consistent and faithful as they walk with the Lord each day. I want my legacy to honor the Lord for as long as I’m remembered. My legacy still depends on my life choices today. I do want to honor the Lord this day and every day. I don’t want my legacy to honor me – I want my legacy to honor the Lord!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
