It’s Time To Plow & Plant
It’s springtime here in Georgia and that means it’s time to plant. Those who have big gardens are preparing to start planting. The ground needs to be prepared and the land organized into rows. Some things take longer to harvest than others, but this is the time of year that planting starts.
The prophet Hosea was speaking into the life of the country of Israel. They were hopefully going to understand that they are reaping what they have sown. He’s trying to get them to plow new soil and plant a new crop. Check this out….
12 Sow righteousness for yourselves,
reap the fruit of unfailing love,
and break up your unplowed ground;
for it is time to seek the Lord,
until he comes
and showers his righteousness on you. (Hosea 10:12 NIV)
It takes tremendous patience to work with a garden. The farmer plows the ground, plants the seed, and we can actually supplement the water supplied, but the Lord provides the growth. We aren’t really in control of the growth. I believe planting and working in a garden can be a spiritual exercise and experience. It is a similar experience to my everyday life. I invest my life into others hoping and praying that it will produce a harvest. The Lord is the One Who gives the growth and multiplies and magnifies my simple effort.
Every day and every season is the time to break up the soil of my soul and seek the Lord. He wants me to seek Him every day of my life. Even when I stumble, He wants me to get back up and get started seeking Him again.
Pressing On!
