Intentional Time
There are a few things that I do without thinking much about it. For example, I make coffee each morning the same way I make it every morning. I’m a slight coffee snob because I like fresh ground beans in my morning brew. I can almost make my coffee without thinking much about it. There are many other things that I do that are thought about and planned out – they are intentional.
My intentions are related to my plans and goals. I can sit around and wait for life to happen to me, or I can make plans and act upon those plans.
Jesus was very intentional in His time here on earth. He invested in His followers and taught them. He healed the sick. He raised the dead. He changed lives everywhere He went. I came across a brief description as to Jesus’ focus. Check this out….
30 Leaving that region, they traveled through Galilee. Jesus didn’t want anyone to know he was there, 31 for he wanted to spend more time with his disciples and teach them. (Mark 9:30-31a NLT)
Time is a precious currency here on earth. The death rate is 100%. This is the land of the dying, and we are preparing for the land of the living – eternity. I love that Jesus valued His time with His followers so much that He fought for that time with them. He knew just how much time He had with them, so He wanted to make it count.
I want to be keenly aware of the way I spend my time and who I spend my time with. I think my time is one area that I must manage carefully. We all have the same number of hours in the day, but we don’t know how much time we have here on earth. I am constantly asking the Lord for help with managing my time well.
Pressing On!
