Inherit
As I get older, I start thinking about what I’m leaving behind when I arrive in heaven one day. I have five kids, so everything gets divided 5 ways. I’ve acquired a few things and some property. I would like to leave them some material things that would bless them and help them. I really want to leave a good strong spiritual legacy that is lived out in my children and my children’s children. A legacy is lived not inherited. I’ve seen a lot of really good people whose kids embarrassed them with their choices and actions. The thing is, I can’t control how my kids live when they leave my home. I can continue to pray for the Lord to guide them and direct their decisions. I can continue to pray for protection as they live out their lives.
David speaks to inheritance a bit differently. Check this out….
5 Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing.
You guard all that is mine.
6 The land you have given me is a pleasant land.
What a wonderful inheritance!
7 I will bless the Lord who guides me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
11 You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever. (Psalm 16:5-8,11 NLT)
I want the Lord’s Presence in my life to become an inheritance for me and my family. I want to know Him more and welcome more of Him into my life. I know that He makes promises for my future. He also promises to be in my present – here and now.
I love He is always Present and His Presence is a gift to me. He calms my heart. He energizes my soul. He clarifies when things are a bit cloudy. I try not to worry about the future because I know He will be with me just like He is now. He will walk with me through whatever I have to face. He will be there as I enter into eternity as well. I’m excited to think about inheriting eternal life from my Heavenly Father.
Pressing On!
