In God We Trust
I have always enjoyed studying American History and learning about how our country was founded. While many of the men who founded our country seemed like good guys, a closer look at their personal lives reveals that many didn’t really live what they said they believed. I’m guessing that has been an issue for all of us. There are times I simply don’t act like a person whose heart belongs to the Lord.
I really believe it’s nearly impossible to live a sinless life. When we get in a really good place, we then get a bit prideful that we’re not like someone else and boom, we just sinned!
Elijah was in the latter part of his time on earth. When the Lord spoke, he took actions. He was told to catch up with a group of messengers sent from the king to consult with Baal-Zebub regarding the out come of an injury he had received. Elijah did what he was told and the king sent messengers to find Elijah. Finally Elijah goes to see the king. Check this out…
15 The angel of the Lord said to Elijah, ‘Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.’ So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king.
16 He told the king, ‘This is what the Lord says: is it because there is no God in Israel for you to consult that you have sent messengers to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Because you have done this, you will never leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!’ 17 So he died, according to the word of the Lord that Elijah had spoken. (2 Kings 1:15-17 NIV)
I believe it’s wise to listen to the Lord.
I believe it’s wise to study His Word.
I believe it’s wise to do my best to live as the Lord leads me.
I want my life to show that I trust in God.
I want my life to reflect Christ in me.
I want my life to be Holy Spirit led.
I want to humbly follow the Lord all the days of my life.
I’m so thankful to be a recipient of grace for all the times that I’ve been stupid and lived only for me.
“In God We Trust” needs to be way more than a slogan on my money, it needs to be how I live.
Pressing On!
