In Between
There have been so many times that I’ve been “in between” things and it takes great patience to wait. If I have the opportunity to write a big contract on a property for a client, I have to wait for a response from the seller. If the property actually goes under contract, there is still some waiting. There is lot of “in between” incidents that happen to everyone.
David was a young man when Samuel anointed him as the next king of Israel. He would wait several years for the plan of God to unfold. He had opportunity to speed it up by killing Saul when he had the chance. I believe David’s character was formed in the “in between”. Check this out….
1 But David kept thinking to himself, “Someday Saul is going to get me. The best thing I can do is escape to the Philistines. Then Saul will stop hunting for me in Israelite territory, and I will finally be safe.”
2 So David took his 600 men and went over and joined Achish son of Maoch, the king of Gath. 3 David and his men and their families settled there with Achish at Gath. David brought his two wives along with him—Ahinoam from Jezreel and Abigail, Nabal’s widow from Carmel. 4 Word soon reached Saul that David had fled to Gath, so he stopped hunting for him. (1 Samuel 27:1-4 NLT)
To live and work in the “in between” takes great patience.
To live and work in the “in between” requires trust.
When I look back over my life at the “in between” moments, there were many. When my first child was born until he grew up, left home, got married, got a job and has a son of his own – there was a lot of life in between.
I can’t always contro the “in between”, but I can control my actions and my thoughts during the ‘in between”. This time of shelter in place due to COVID-19 is an “in between” moment. I’m trying to exercise great patience and trust the Lord with all of this. Meanwhile, the “in between” continues.
Pressing On!
