I’m Praying For Mr. Obama

I believe prayer is a vital part of my journey with the Lord. I believe that prayer calls upon God to use His Power, His Authority and His Resources to help here on earth. I believe that prayer can change my perspective.  I was reminded this morning that I should pray for everyone. I should intercede on behalf of all people and that includes politicians from both sides of the isle. I believe I should pray for my leaders from school board to the White House. I should pray as specific as I know how. I should pray for them instead of verbally punch them. Paul is speaking to a young pastor with tender instruction. Check this out…

I will say that I have an opinion as to how all of my elected officials are doing. I do speak out regarding my view on policy when it’s being debated. I also try to get my message directly to my elected official. I do not think it’s wise or Christ-like to revert to name calling and character bashing. I must learn to show respect to my leaders and practice restraint on my tongue.

So I’ve decided to pray for M/M Obama (Barack & Michelle) and their children. I’m praying that the Lord will give Him incredible wisdom and discernment as he leads the great country. I’m praying that he will walk with the Lord and seek His Wisdom in the myriad of decisions that he needs to make today. I’m praying a similar prayer for Governor Nathan Deal as well as my local officials. They need incredibly deep wisdom because there are so many people affected by their daily decisions.  I know what it’s like to be faced with hard decisions that no matter my choice, I’m frustrating someone. I know what it’s like to be the “squeaky wheel” and I know what it’s like to speak out and voice my thoughts directly to the leader. Today I was reminded that before I “speak out”, I should maybe “pray up”!
