I Believe
I believe in God. I believe that He created all that I see and know, including the heavens and the earth and everyone here. I believe that He sent His One and Only Son to make a way back to Him. I believe that God is eternal, and I believe He will usher me to heaven when I breathe my last breath on this earth. I want to live each day of my life displaying that belief in my everyday life.
I am journeying through the book of John. I believe John was one of Jesus’ closest friends. John writes from a friend perspective. Jesus had recently fed over 5,000 men and their families. That evening his disciples left in the boat to go to the other side. Jesus later walked on water to get to the disciples right before they got to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. Some of the people realized that Jesus had not been in the boat. There was a lot of curiosity. Check this out….
26 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs. 27 But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.”
28 They replied, “We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?”
29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6:26-29 NLT)
I believe in Jesus. I believe in God. I believe that His Word is true. I believe that He sent His Holy Spirit to comfort me and lead me. I believe that He speaks to me through His Word, preachers who teach His Word and others who follow Him.
It does not take a lot of work for me to believe in God. It doesn’t take a big stretch of faith to trust Him. I have been following Him and believing in Him since I was a kid. He has been with me through some very difficult times and some incredibly good times. Each morning when I wake up, I start talking to Him. I even ask Him to help me overcome my doubts or my unbelief. I am so thankful for His Presence in my life. He calms my heart. He brings Peace that is impossible to describe. I’m so thankful to know Him and to have Him know me.
