Humble Leader
I’m enjoying my journey through the book of Daniel. It seems that these great events that happened in Daniels life are especially exciting. He was an advisor to the king of Babylon, the most powerful nation in the world at that time. God used Daniel to speak into the life of the king. It’s obvious that the King Nebuchadnezzar was a very proud king. He was constantly sharing the lengths of his power.
The king had a dream that disturbed him greatly and the wise men of Babylon couldn’t interpret the dream. Daniel was called in. After hearing the dream, Daniel was a bit shy about sharing it because it meant 7 years of punishment upon the king. His kingdom would be taken away from him and he basically would go insane for this time. The change that happened after this time is worth noting. Check this out….
34 At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up toward heaven, and I could think normally again! Then I gave praise to the Most High God;
I gave honor and glory to him who lives forever. God’s rule is forever, and his kingdom continues for all time. 35 People on earth are not truly important. God does what he wants with the powers of heaven and the people on earth. No one can stop his powerful hand or question what he does. 36 At that time I could think normally again, and God gave back my great honor and power and returned the glory to my kingdom. The people who advised me and the royal family came to me for help again. I became king again and was even greater and more powerful than before. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, give praise and honor and glory to the King of heaven. Everything he does is right and fair, and he is able to make proud people humble. (Daniel 4:34-37 NCV)I want to work every day at surrendering my pride at the foot of the cross. I am nothing without the Lord. With the Lord dwelling in me and leading me there’s nothing that we can’t do. I want to walk in the confidence that He can do anything and I’m simply His servant. I don’t want to be puffed up and proud at all. I will boast only about Him and how he works through a regular person like me.
Pressing On! Dwayne
