Humble Heart
There are so many times when my pride raises its ugly head and pushes humility out of my heart. I do believe that all sin can be traced back to pride. When I add “contrite” to my humility, then my position to the Lord is crystal clear. I am nothing without Him. I’m lost without Him. The word contrite means to show sincere remorse; it’s a desire for atonement. The Lord removes my guilt and offers complete forgiveness and atonement for my sin. I think the big thing here is that I realize His role in my life as the Lord. My role with my life is submission and humility. He makes beautiful music with a life that is humble and contrite. Check out these words from the last chapter of Isaiah…..
2 My hands have made both heaven and earth;
they and everything in them are mine.
I, the Lord, have spoken!
“I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts,
who tremble at my word.(Isaiah 66:2 NLT)
As I read the Lord’s Word each day, I’m reminded of His Position and His Presence in me. I am not in charge of my life. I’ve surrendered that to Him as He asked. He has given me new direction and new inspiration to follow Him all the rest of my life. I can’t possibly do better on my own.
He keeps me grounded through His Word.
He reminds me of sinful behavior in His Word.
He reminds me of His amazing grace through His Word.
He reminds me to be humble and contrite in His Word.
His Word speaks to my heart in ways that regular words or encouragement could never speak.
His Word has great power and influence in my soul.
I believe His Word delivers peace in the middle of chaos. I want the Lord’s blessing to be all over my life and the lives of my family as we seek His face with humble and contrite hearts.
Pressing On!
