How Much?
This is a two-word question that I ask a lot. When I’m at the grocery store or the mechanic shop looking at a repair.
How much money does it cost?
How much time will it take?
How much time do I have?
How much more can I take?
I think it’s wise to ask questions prior to taking action. I’m not sure we always get all the information needed to make a decision. At other times the decisions are easy because we approved the answer to our “How much” question.
One of Jesus’ disciples asked this question. He had given up on the vision and mission of Jesus. He was obvious disillusioned. Check this out….
14 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests15 and asked, “How much will you pay me to betray Jesus to you?” And they gave him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From that time on, Judas began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus. (Matthew 26:14-16 NLT)
I remember a friend of mine used to say, “I’m not saying I can’t be bought, I’m just saying no one has named my price yet”. We used to laugh as he said that.
How much money does it take to make me happy?
How much money must be on the table before I choose to cheat someone?
How much will it cost if I do this?
How much is my faith worth?
How much is my life worth?
The Lord puts great value on honesty and integrity. I think the “how much” question is the wrong question when it comes to my faith and my life. I believe the Lord wants me to give EVERTHING I have, in order to gain EVERYTHING He has. I think it’s ok to “count the cost” by asking “how much”, but I think I must make sure I’m asking the appropriate question in God’s economy.
Pressing On!
