Honor God
I really like Sunday’s a lot because here in the USA it’s when the majority of churches gather to honor the Lord with our heart-felt worship and praise. I belong to a church that is very intentional about intense worship experiences that include the message and the music. I believe the simplest prayer honors God. The most amazing big sounding worship song can honor God too. God is honored most by my obedient heart. Just this morning as I was reading from the prophet Haggai, I felt the Lord speak obedience into my heart. Check this out….
5 This is what the Lord All-Powerful says: “Think about what you have done. 6 You have planted much, but you harvest little. You eat, but you do not become full. You drink, but you are still thirsty. You put on clothes, but you are not warm enough. You earn money, but then you lose it all as if you had put it into a purse full of holes.” 7 This is what the Lord All-Powerful says: “Think about what you have done. 8 Go up to the mountains, bring back wood, and build the Temple. Then I will be pleased with it and be honored,” says the Lord. (Haggai 1:5-8 NCV)After reading this passage of scripture I began to reflect on all the material blessings that I have. If God is not honored then none of the rest matters. I will find fulfillment in the ownership of things ONLY if God has been honored first. I believe it’s important to give from the “first fruits” of my labor. I’m not always spot on this one, but I’m seeking to improve. Our church has on-line giving and so there’s really no excuse for me not to make a deposit and then go online and honor the Lord with the first fruits of my earnings.
I’m put on this earth to honor God. When I breath my last breath, I want others to know that I existed for the ONE who gave us all life. I don’t want people to get so hung up on my death but genuinely reflect on the life I lived for God. This simple little passage from Haggai really jumped in my lap today. My number one goal today and EVERYDAY is to Honor God!
Pressing On! Dwayne
