Harvest Principle

planting gardenThere are principles that we all live by and sometimes we pay little or no attention to them. For example, if we do something nice for someone, we like it when it is noticed.  There are many other principles that I live my life by without a lot of thought because I’ve tried to walk with the Lord daily for many years now.  Some things have become second nature – which is a good thing.  6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:
“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;

    their righteousness endures forever.”
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. (2 Corinthians 9:6-11 NIV)

 

If I want to have a big harvest, I must have a big planting season.  The blessing of God on generosity is beyond measuring or finding out.  When I give and the Lord adds His blessing to my gift, it does far more than I can imagine. My giving starts with obedience and surrender. The material possessions that I have are not mine – they never were. All I have is His – I’m just the manager of it.  This makes the harvest principle easier to understand. He owns all – I just manage my portion that He’s given me.

Giving is Godly and Christ-like. I would be wise to realize that I can’t out give The Giver of Life!
