Green Thumb
If there is an opposite to a “green thumb”, I think I have it. A “green thumb” is used to describe someone who “has a natural talent for growing plants”. I had a peace lily once and the only instruction is a little sunlight and water. I kept it alive the longest I’ve ever kept any plant alive. I’ve learned that if I going to have plants they must be very low maintenance.
I came across a passage of scripture that describes God with having great ability to grow a vineyard. Check this out…
2 In that day – ‘Sing about a fruitful vineyard: 3 I, the Lord, watch over it; I water it continually. I guard it day and night so that no one may harm it. (Isaiah 27:1-3 NIV)
I think the metaphor here is that God’s people are the fruitful vineyard and He is the Keeper of it. I believe that the Lord watches over my life. I know He quenches my thirsty soul. I know that He offers protection for me. I love how His Word tells me more about Who He is and What He is doing in my life. I want to be a growing and vibrant plant because the Great Horticulturalist is watching over me.
