Godly Goal

I am certainly not a perfect person; however, I am forgiven. I am a recipient of grace and mercy from God Himself. This grace and mercy was paid for by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. My forgiveness was purchased. I am becoming the righteousness of God. I am becoming holy. I am becoming godly. As I read His Word, I’m inspired by the events that transpired to bring about forgiveness for all mankind. As I read His Word this morning, I was moved by the blessing that comes to the godly. Check this out….

Praise the Lord!

How joyful are those who fear the Lord
    and delight in obeying his commands.
Their children will be successful everywhere;
    an entire generation of godly people will be blessed.
They themselves will be wealthy,
    and their good deeds will last forever.
Light shines in the darkness for the godly.
    They are generous, compassionate, and righteous.
Good comes to those who lend money generously
    and conduct their business fairly.
Such people will not be overcome by evil.
    Those who are righteous will be long remembered.
They do not fear bad news;
    they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.
They are confident and fearless
    and can face their foes triumphantly.
They share freely and give generously to those in need.
    Their good deeds will be remembered forever.
    They will have influence and honor.(Psalm 112:1-9 NLT)

I want to be consistent in following the Lord.

I want to be generous because He is so generous.

I want to be compassionate.

I want to be fair and honorable in conducting ALL my business.

I want to be confident and unmoved by bad news.

I want to be known and remembered for my heart that the Lord rebuilt in me.

I want to have influence and honor on His behalf, not mine.

These actions are a result of Him saving my soul. These are not goals in and of themselves. The godly goal will be realized when I hear Him say, “Well done!” If I’m godly today, it’s because He lives inside my heart. My daily journey should reflect these characteristics as I press on toward the goal of knowing Him and living for Him.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
