Gentle Promise
I try my very best to only make promises that I can keep. It’s easy to make promises, but it’s a different to keep or honor all promises. When a person keeps a promise it is a sign that their words mean something to them.
The Lord makes promises and keeps every single one of them. I’ve been the recipient of promise after promise from the Lord. One of my favorite promises is His amazing love and compassion. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the depth of His love for me. Check this out…
9 ‘To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again. 10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you. (Isaiah 54:9-10 NIV)
I think it is a huge miscalculation to mistake “gentle” for weak. The Lord is not weak, but He is gentle and kind. He keeps His Power and Strength under control. He is oh so patient with me. I see “gentle” as strength under control. The Lord has perfected this trait. His promises are incredible, but every one of them is true.
I’m resting in the shadow of His Promises to me today. His Presence makes a huge difference in how I see my world today. His love is extravagant and incredibly addictive. I’m so grateful for His gentle promise of His Presence forever.
Pressing On! Dwayne
