Generous Giving
I can still remember when I as broke as a joke and scrambled to have money for anything. I was not necessarily blowing my money, but I sure wasn’t smart with what I had. I’ve heard it said that “broke is about my bank account balance, but poor is a state of my mind”. I don’t know that I’ve ever felt poor. There are people who think they’re poor, when really, they’re only broke. Giving has little to do with being broke, it is much more about a state of the mind and heart.
I want to keep learning about generosity and giving from the Ultimate Giver – God. He is the First Giver and when He gave His One and Only Son for the sins of mankind, everything about giving changed. That is a whole new standard. The thing with the Father is, He’s still keeps giving. His gift of grace is ridiculous, but I’m so thankful to be a recipient of His grace so many times I’ve lost count. David spoke of giving generously out of thanksgiving for the Lord rescuing Him. Check this out….
1 Come with great power, O God, and rescue me!
Defend me with your might.
2 Listen to my prayer, O God.
Pay attention to my plea.
6 I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you;
I will praise your name, O Lord,
for it is good.
7 For you have rescued me from my troubles
and helped me to triumph over my enemies. (Psalm 54:1-2,6-7 NLT)
I’m so thankful for the Presence of the Lord. Not only does He clear my slate of sins by His Grace. His Presence is Protection and Strength. His Presence gives me direction and counsel. His Presence changed my prayer life. He gives me victory in the battles for my soul. When I reflect on His Presence in me, the generosity of my heart expands. I want to be a giver like the Lord Who is an Amazing Giver. I’m so thankful for the Lord’s Great Power and Presence – my soul is moved.
Pressing On!
