Generations
I’m not super good at looking back through the generations before me of my family. I do remember seeing family trees with names of my family and kinfolk on there. It’s pretty interesting but takes some time and effort to study. I’m aware of my Mom & Dad’s family like their parents and grand parents. I’ve never gone too far from there.
To study a generation and to look at their lifestyle and their life’s work takes a good bit of investigation. Sometimes when I take a look a just my life and my journey I’m a bit encouraged and depressed at the winding road I’ve taken get where I’m at. I’m not always a faithful follower of Jesus. I’m not always a good husband to my wife. I’m not always a good Dad to my children. I’m not always a nice person. I have my moments of being a bit ticked off and somewhat mean. The Lord is always good. He is always full of love and mercy. He always has compassion. He is consistent in His Character. Check this out….
11 My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass. 12 But you, Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations. 25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 26 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. 27 But you remain the same, and your years will never end. 28 The children of your servants will live in your presence; their descendants will be established before you.”(Psalm 102:11-12;25-28 NIV)
I want to follow the Lord with all my heart for all of the rest of my days. When I follow the Lord fully, I’m a better person, husband, Dad and friend. He is consistent in Who He is and how He loves. I need to learn that from Him so that generations of my family will follow Him.
Pressing On! Dwayne
