Flooded With Light

I have flood lights on my house. When I turn them own or if motion turns them own, I want them to illuminate a large area around my home so that I can possibly see what or who is out there. I do admit that I like daylight better than darkness. It seems that more bad stuff happens under the cloak of darkness than during the daylight hours.

Paul is praying a beautiful prayer over the members of the Ephesus church. He prays for them to have spiritual wisdom and insight. I love the part of his prayer where he prays for their heart. Check this out….

¹⁶ I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, ¹⁷ asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. ¹⁸ I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

¹⁹ I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. (Ephesians 1:16b-19a NLT)

I want my heart to be flooded with light so that I can fully understand the hope I have in Jesus. I want to understand more of the Fathers heart. The Light of God will reveal my heart. His light will expose diseased places. While light is silent it is really powerful. I was thinking of a massive 10,000 lumens of light shining on my heart. Just yesterday afternoon, I was eating dinner with my wife and brothers at a restaurant in town and the sun light was pouring in on my table. In fact, it was a bit uncomfortable, but it revealed something I had never seen before. The ketchup sitting on the table was catching the sun’s rays and I could see inside the bottle. I had requested the waitress bring another bottle because this one was nearly empty. The dark red bottle prevents me from seeing inside, but the brightness of the sun exposed it. There are all different powers of lights, the dim light barely reveals, but the really powerful light exposes and makes known what is there.

I want the Lord to flood my heart with light from His Spirit. I want to be directed. I want to make sure there is room for Him above anything else inside my heart. I want my heart to be clean and pure before Him. I want to grasp His Power and His Presence in me. I want to understand His plan, His will and His Power that He wants to plant in my heart. This prayer really blessed and moved my heart this morning.
